  • Partner, Arbor Centers for EyeCare
  • Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology, the University of Illinois Eye Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Richard Quinones, M.D. is a nationally renowned specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Dr. Quinones epitomizes the fact that good medicine is “life-long learning”, as he constantly reads and researches to find the best treatment options for his patients. While glaucoma is a vision threatening condition, Dr. Quinones works effortlessly to provide his patients the most advanced treatment options to preserve vision.

With a passion for teaching and public speaking, Dr. Quinones is invited to lecture nationally and internationally on the most effective diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Further, he is the principal investigator on several research projects striving to provide the latest treatment options for his patients.

He is described by his patients as “dedicated”, “the best”, and “the one who saved my sight”. His peers describe him as a “tireless worker” who goes above and beyond for the needs of his patients. Doctors he has mentored state: “he taught me everything I know about glaucoma, and continually reads about innovations to provide the best care for his patients.”

Dr. Quinones serves as the President of the Chicago Glaucoma Society, a group of 50 local glaucoma specialists who meet regularly to discuss topics related to glaucoma, difficult patient cases, and coding issues.

He is also an advocate for patients and our profession, serving on the board of the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology, as a Councilor for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and on committees of the Illinois State Medical Society. Dr. Quinones remains active in his local Lions Club chapter dedicated to preserving sight.

Outside of the office, Dr. Quinones enjoys watching his 3 children participate in sporting events, watching professional sports (especially hockey, Big M football, and baseball), listening to music, and reading.
